oswiki grew out of the information pages in ØSIL Trim: the village’s history, its farms and people, its sources, gathered in one place and open to read at oswiki.solheimsolutions.no. Editing is by login, with roles for viewers, editors and admins, and every page keeps its version history. On 9 October 2026 the wiki held 174 pages in 1 455 versions written since May, 362 images, a dialect glossary, and a quiz of 343 questions that has been played 146 times.

The search is SQLite FTS5 with a Norwegian-tolerant tokenizer, so “Øverøya” and “Overoya” find the same page. The map draws on Kartverket’s topographic tiles and the cadastral registry, so a farm page can show where the farm is. Much of the content comes from scanned sources — old newspapers and the 1928 farm history — read by an OCR and language-model pipeline, then checked against the page image before it is published.

Personal research project, in Norwegian. The parts worth carrying into client work are the ones that keep a volunteer-edited site honest: version history, roles, and a rule that nothing unverified goes on a page without being labelled as such.
